Description

The EXEDY Hyper Single Series clutch is engineered to optimize the performance of cars that are moderately modified, but do not require the clutch capacity of a multi-plate clutch. Similar to our multi-plate clutches, it has a purple anodized, forged aluminum cover. The aluminum cover is stiffer than a stamped cover and therefore allows a higher lever ratio to maintain the pedal efforts at a reasonable level. There is no clamp load deflection as found in a pressed metal type cover. Additionally, the pressure plate features a series of turbine-like, air flow enhancing vanes that keep the clutch cooler under extreme operating conditions to improve wear life.

EXEDY's forged aluminum pressure plate delivers a higher clamp load than the stock clutch without a significantly higher pedal effort, because the stiffer forged cover allows all of the pedal travel to be utilized to disengage the disc. A stamped steel plate is spongier, taking up some of the pedal travel as it flexes. The stiffer forged cover allows the use of a stiffer diaphragm spring, pivoted differently inside the cover for more mechanical advantage. The increased mechanical advantage lowers pedal pressure, while the lack of lost motion permits normal pedal travel. The bottom line: more torque-holding capacity and great feel at part-engagement. An additional feature of the pressure plate is a series of turbine-like, airflow-enhancing vanes that keep the clutch cooler under extreme operating conditions, which improves durability.

The heaviest components of the clutch system are the clutch cover, plates and flywheel. Low inertia discs allow the transmission to synchronize in a shorter interval of time, eliminating time loss during shift changing while also reducing stress on drivetrain components. The weight of a carbon clutch disc is one third that of a metallic disc.

For most streetable applications, the preferred clutch disc is the cerametallic style with a damper hub. This style of disc will have a consistent feel throughout the day, from the first cold start of the day to a launch from the Christmas Tree after a heat-inducing burnout. The damper hub will help with a smooth launch and improved gearchange feel, as well as eliminate gear rattle moderate speeds. Gear rattle is caused by variations in crankshaft rotational speed, as individual cylinders fire. That in turn makes the gear teeth bounce and rattle against each other as you head on down the road.

A more ambitiously-modified vehicle, used mostly for drag racing, autocrossing or rallying might benefit from the use of a Carbon-D friction disc, Faced with pure carbon-fiber, laid one strand at a time and baked at 3600° to cure, carbon fiber has an interesting characteristic: it's coefficient of friction (COF) gets higher as it gets hotter. Unfortunately, it's inconveniently low when at room temperatures, rising to the same COF range as cerametallic friction material when warmed properly. Used in a street vehicle, its inconsistent takeup may be annoying in a daily driver. Carbon fiber is very long-lived in heavy-duty use, however. Carbon-D friction discs have a spring-dampener hub for easy shifting and quiet gears. Carbon-D is equipped with a new dual stage damper, a low-load stage and rapid-acceleration stage, both of which are individually tuned for each car type.

For a dedicated race or track car, Carbon-R friction is preferred. The lack of a dampener hub may mean a fair amount of harshness, vibration and noise may intrude into the cabin or be felt in the gearshift or clutch pedal. The undampened hub, combined with the lighter weight of the whole assembly may make starting up difficult to do without some initial judder. The advantages in shifting speed and torque capacity are the payoff for this lack of refinement.

Due to the inherent properties of the carbon material, EXEDY suggests the proper way to bring the discs up to operating temperature. The correct method is three sequential five second "slips" of the clutch within 30 seconds at low RPM. This will heat the discs so they will hold the specified torque rating.

At JM Auto Racing we make returns and other client services as easy as possible. Our mission is to provide you with the best products and the best service in the automotive industry. We understand that sometimes, clients change their minds about products that they order or simply do not need them anymore. We also know that clients are cautious about terms and conditions since they are often tricky and misleading. Our goal is to make the return or exchange process trustworthy and as simple as 1-2-3.

Returns & Exchanges
If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, we will be happy to accept a return for a refund or exchange on products in new/unused condition within 30 days of delivery. For orders placed during the holiday season from November 15th to December 31st, the return period is extended to 60 days. The following rules apply:

  • All returns and exchanges must be made via our Return Procedure with a valid & signed RMA form.
  • Product(s) must be in new condition and in the original packaging (please do not assemble, install, or modify the product in any way). In the event of fitment, flaw or defect pictures may be necessary to complete your request.
  • Any product that was used or fully/partially installed is non-returnable.
  • In some cases, return of the physical product may not be required. For these products, instructions will be provided on how to process a field destroy or dispose of the original item.
  • The few exceptions for items that cannot be returned include:
    • Items classified as “special order” or “made to order”
    • Custom Wheels & Tires Packages

Cancellations
We all know that things happen a people change their mind as soon as the purchase things.  We take pride in how quickly we get things out the door and with 4 warehouses to ship from plus stock owned at our manufacturers, that speed is always increasing.  This is why we only except full cancellations within 30 minutes of placing an in stock order.  This helps us ensure your package gets out on the truck immediately or can be flagged before it goes through the packaging process.  For orders that are not in stock or special order, we allow 24 hours. Cancellations can be done online by submitting a request, or through our customer care team who can be reached via live chat or phone. Your request will be processed as quickly as possible, but please note that sometimes products ship quicker than expected. After 24 hours or after an out of stock item has been confirmed, fees will apply to all cancellations with the exception of Special Order items, which can not be cancelled after the 24 hour period.

Cancellations are subject to a 10% cancellation fee. This fee is not to rip you off in any way. When you place an order, we lose 3% due to credit card processing, and also another 3% to credit your account. The other 4% is much less then what is needed to cover all other costs and expenses lost by cancelling an order, that was already processed. This fee is will only be imposed on orders that have not shipped. If a special order has been placed, such as pistons, turbo's, etc., and the items are built and ready to ship out, and a cancellation is requested, a 25% cancellation fee will be imposed if possible to be cancelled.

What are my shipping fees?
For orders delivered within the continental US where reason for return isn't a result of a JM Auto Racing error, the cost of the initial shipping charge and a return fee will be deducted from your refund. A prepaid shipping label(s) will be provided.
Freight, international & non-continental US returns are accepted, however coordination of return shipping is the responsibility of the client. In the event an error is made by JM Auto Racing, a return shipping label will be provided.

Сore deposits
Some products sold on JM Auto Racing include a core deposit. These parts have a deposit that is charged upon purchase and fully refunded upon the return of the core. Cores must be in rebuildable condition and matching vehicle application to the product sold. Once the product is received and inspected, the deposit will be refunded to your original form of payment. Note: Product cores returned that are not fully assembled or are not the unit that was removed from the vehicle, will not be refunded and the core will be discarded. Defective, damaged, or incorrect products
We all know that accidents happen sometimes. If your product(s) arrive defective, damaged, or simply incorrect, please contact our customer service department as soon as possible. Please do not attempt to use, install, modify, or repair the part! We will send you a replacement part and provide you with a prepaid return label to return the defective part. In some instances, return of the product may not be required. Products must be returned to us within 30 days. If the damage was caused by a shipping courier, we will schedule a damage pick up by the courier. Photos of the damage, defect, or fitment issue may be requested in order to correctly process your request. Please note that products must be in the original packaging and there are additional requirements for products that ship freight.

Billing, refunds & credits
Payment for orders may be captured as soon as the order has been successfully placed. Refunds for returned products are issued with 3-5 business days once they are received by our warehouse and inspected. Refunds will be issued via the same payment method originally used to place the order (Credit Card, PayPal, Google, Affirm, Check). All returns, where JM Auto Racing is not at fault, will have 15% restocking fee less than cost of freight.  Free shipping items will have the initial freight fees deducted from the final refund.  Shipping is only free if you keep the item you purchased.  Some items will have a higher restocking fee.  This information will be revealed to you up front upon requesting a return.  Once the refund has been issued a confirmation email will be sent. Please allow an additional 5-7 days for the credit to appear on your account.

Shipping & delivery
To ensure a fast and safe delivery we use FedEx, DHL, Ontrac, USPS, & UPS Ground/Air shipping services. Available shipping methods may vary for different type of products and shipping destinations. Most products in stock ship same day, or within 1 business day after which its delivery can be tracked via tracking number sent to your email. For custom or made to order items shipping time varies as they may have to be manufactured, painted, embroidered, or assembled.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Products that are oversized must ship truck freight / LTL which differs from ground shipments. NOTE: These oversized items require inspection and a signature upon delivery. For more information on freight shipping click here.
  • Shipments to Canada are treated as all other international shipments. It is the recipient's responsibility to pay all applicable duties, taxes, & brokerage fees. Detailed Info can be found here here.
  • Shipments to HI, AK, PR, Guam, Virgin Islands, APOs, & Canada might require extra shipping charges. International shipping quotes will be e-mailed to the customer before the credit card is charged.
  • Oversized items such as hoods, body kits, bumpers, tonneau covers, roofs, trunks and spoilers may require additional postage that is not displayed on the website.  You will be contacted prior to the item shipping to confirm.

Warranty

EXEDY Warranty Policy

All goods/products supplied by the company are warranted against faulty material and/or workmanship. Warranty does not apply if maltreatment, damage caused by collision or incorrect fitting exists.

Claims will be rejected where clutch kits and/or clutch components have been fitted to incorrect or unlisted applications.

Flywheel must be resurfaced/machined to manufacturer's specifications before new clutch kit is fitted, otherwise warranty will be void.

Standard OEM Replacement Clutch Kits

Standard OEM replacement clutch kits are guaranteed for a period of twelve (24) months or 30,000 miles, which ever occurs first.

Automatic Transmission Kits

Automatic Transmission steels and wet friction products are guaranteed for a period of twenty-four (24) months or 50,000 miles, which ever occurs first, against manufacturer's defects. Claims on wet friction products will not be entertained on any claim level, sight unseen of the product that claims to be faulty.

Sports/Performance

Due to the intended use and nature of these goods/products, they are warranted as follows:

Stage 1, Stage 2 and Racing Flywheels - 12 months from date of purchase.

All Hyper Series Clutch Kits - 90 days from date of purchase.

Stage 3, Stage 4 and Stage 5 - No Warranty available.

Individual components - No Warranty available.

OEM Replacement clutch kits and Automatic Transmission kits used in performance applications are not covered by any warranty. l
